About Haley Booksellers When we meet people at one of our events, or when someone comments on our website, we're often asked the same question: "Where is your bookstore located?" Funny you should ask that - Haley Booksellers is not an actual, physical bookstore. 20 years ago, maybe we'd be interested in opening up a traditional bookstore, but not today. Not with the Big Book Barns wiping out all the small stores, and Amazon.com looming over all of them. Not to say that we don't know and love bookstores. I've (Jesse) worked in a bookstore in a renovated theater just blocks from the Pacific Ocean, as well as one across the street from the White House. My father, Dick, was a manager at both the Harvard Coop and the B.U. Bookstore/Barnes & Noble in Kenmore Square, where he specialized in setting up author events. While author events are always one of the best things about working in a bookstore, they are typically ill conceived and/or under promoted. There'd be maybe a listing of the event in the local free newspaper, a couple black and white flyers around the store. Managers think, "we've got the books, they (the readers) know where to find us." We knew there had to be a better way. We take the traditional author reading & book signing out of the cluttered aisles of the bookstore and directly to the readers. From ballparks, restaurants, libraries and bars, to theaters, convention halls, fundraisers and festivals, we take pride in finding the right venue for a particular book and author. And when it comes to promoting your book and event, we don't leave it to chance. Our diverse promotion strategies, including TV, radio, internet, email and print marketing, ensures that we get the word out about your book in ways that bookstores, both big and small, simply can't. Most of all, we love the books! As lifelong booklovers, we're passionate about the authors and books we promote. We started this venture because of the words, not the numbers.
