Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006   For the second year in a row, we were fortunate enough to be involved in WTKK's massive live broadcast. This year, the event was held at the John Hancock Hall in Boston's Back Bay and featured Bill O'Reilly, Mike Barnicle, Jay Severin, Michael Graham, Margery Eagen, Jim Braude, Monica Crowley and Bernard McGuirk. The panel discussion was hosted by NECN's Chet Curtis.

Haley Booksellers was there with a table full of books including Bill O'Reilly's latest release, Culture Warrior, as well as his older titles like Who's Looking Out for You and The O'Reilly Factor for Kids. We also had plenty of copies of Michael Graham's Redneck Nation. When the town hall style discussion was over, both O'Reilly and Graham stopped by our tables and signed books for the assembled attendees.

Thanks to Sue & David from the New Hampshire branch of HB for coming down and helping out. Thanks also to Leslie, Hank and the rest of our friends at WTKK and Greater Media.

Highlights from the 1st Annual 96.9 FM Talk All Stars

From Greater Media: One night. One stage. 96.9 FM Talk made radio history by hosting the first-ever FM Talk All Stars on Saturday, November 5, 2005 from the new Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in South Boston.

The FM Talk All Stars featured FM Talk's top on-air talent, including Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Bernard McGuirk (from "Imus in the Morning" show), Mike Barnicle, Margery Eagan and Jim Braude together on one stage for a night of candid and frank discussion on the latest issues making headlines around the world. In addition, Laura Ingraham joined the program via telephone.

Regular FM Talk listeners know them for their outspoken views on everything from the war on terror to Supreme Court nominees.

The event was moderated by 96.9 FM Talk on-air personality Ron Insana, who summed it up thusly: "I've never had a greater professional challenge than playing with the big boys (and girls!) of talk, O'Reilly, Hannity, Barnicle, McGuirk, Eagan, and Braude. It made the Ali-Frazier fight look like a love fest."

More than 2,000 FM Talk fans showed up for the sold-out event, proving once again how passionate listeners are about 96.9 FM Talk. As noted by "Imus in the Morning" producer Bernard McGuirk, "The crowd's energy and passion complemented that of the panelists! Only in Boston."

Proceeds from the event benefited the Genesis Fund, which assists in providing specialized care and treatment for New England-area children born with birth defects, mental retardation, or genetic diseases.
